Eileen Spilman
Basket Artist

Eileen was introduced to basket weaving in 2000 and immediately knew she had found her niche in the art world. Since then she has woven hundreds of baskets, mainly using reed which is a natural material that can be woven using many different techniques. She also uses white oak, black ash, birch bark, hickory bark, pine needles, sweet grass and other materials to weave or integrate into a basket.

Eileen feels it has been a privilege to learn techniques from fellow members of the Headwaters Basket Makers Guild, along with instructors from many other states while attending basket workshops. She enjoys taking classes as well as teaching classes.

Eileen specializes in making baskets that are useful containers that can be used in a variety of ways as well as being decorative pieces in any home.
